I am a deck creator, my latest deck is a fun Retro Lenormand. In the spirit of this blog-hop theme (new deck) I will share a bit of my creative process. For me it goes something like this:

  • Choose a theme to work in: This is an important step as it adds continuity throughout the deck
  • Create the artwork: I like to create my own either traditionally or digitally
  • Find the right typography to compliment the theme for the overlay of card numbers etc: This is another important aspect to consider in the overall design of the deck. The wrong font can ruin an otherwise perfectly good looking deck
  • Use Photoshop (or similar software) to put it all together
  • Print the deck & make it available for purchase once done
  • Tell everyone about it!

It was probably while watching Mad Men (TV series) that the idea to create a retro deck was born. I love the colour schemes, the bold patterning and sassy attitude of all things retro which led to an enjoyable creative process. A deck with joie de vivre!

Without any further ado, allow me to introduce you to some of the cards in this new deck, but be warned, they have attitude!

She is a sophisticated woman of the times.

She is smart and sophisticated

Suave and successful, this retro man is

He is suave and successful

And if things don't work out for them there's plenty fish in the sea (plus and extra gentleman & woman card in the deck)

They like each other but if all else fails there’s plenty fish in the sea

They are sexy and they know it

Guided by style and panache

Guided by style and panache

Even when faced with adversity

Even when faced with adversity

Nothing separates them from their stylish enjoyment of life

Nothing separates them from their stylish enjoyment of life

Because a little bit of retro goes a long way...

Because a little bit of retro goes a long way…

Add a bit of joie de vivre to your 2016 readings today. 😉

5-Card Yuletide Spread

In the Yule BlogHop we were asked to do a 5-card spread for the following questions:

1) What gift would you give the world if you could?  The Lovers

The Gypsy Palace Tarot by Nøra Huszka

The Gypsy Palace Tarot by Nøra Huszka

Love remains the greatest power of all. With loving comes forgiveness and acceptance of one another’s differences. If our world leaders could operate from love and acceptance rather than greed and blood-thirst this would be a much better world to live in.

2) What gift would you want from the world?  Page of Pentacles

The Gypsy Palace Tarot by Nøra Huszka

The Page of Pentacles represents the student to me. This is very fitting as I see myself as a perpetual student learning from the world at all times.

3) What gift have you gotten that has brought you joy? 2 of Cups

The Gypsy Palace Tarot by Nøra Huszka

For me the Two of Cups speaks of equality and mutual respect. I have finally honoured my inner artist, the intuitively creative me that is well represented by the Cups suit, by enrolling at Art School at the mature age of 51. I’ve loved art since I was a little girl, and I’ve wanted to ‘do’ good art since just about forever. It is never too late to honour oneself and to treat ourselves as deserving equals. With Art I can express myself.

4) What gift have you given that has brought you joy? Queen of Swords

The written and spoken word. I’ve been fortunate that I had a very busy tarot practice until quite recently. It brought me great joy to witness the healing and peace that my readings often brought others. I’ve also just completed my first contracted book for publication by Schiffer Publishers, a how-to manual for my LeNewbie Lenormand deck. Hopefully my written words in this publication will be a gift for those who are new to the oracle.

5) What is the last thing that you would like to share about this season?  Knight of Pentacles

The Gypsy Palace Tarot by Nøra Huszka

For me, this card is all about responsibility and planning ahead. I guess I’d say that good planning and foresight will assist each of us to meet our responsibilities toward ourselves and others; not only over the season, but into 2015 too.

Happy holidays to us & ours, including all our fur (and feathered) babies.

Litha TarotBlogHop – Celebrate the Sunrise

In this latest tarot-blog-hop, the theme gives rise to this question: How will you celebrate the sunrise this Midsummer?

The sunrise behind the clouds depicted in this card is filled with promise and enlightenment. (“The Cloud” Vintage Lenormand by Rootweaver)

Read the blog before me: Here

For me, sunrise is symbolic of a new beginning, every day. It also symbolises enlightenment. When I have my first cup of coffee each morning outside on the deck, early enough to greet the sunrise, my thoughts are focussed on how I will manifest my day into being. I try to be mindful of the power of my thoughts and the Law of Attraction. For the same ‘effort’ I have the ability to manifest a perfectly agreeable day or not, merely by thinking it so.

A few years ago I was introduced to Abraham Hicks, through whom I learnt about the Law of Attraction. Abraham said: “Enlightenment means literally aligning to the Energy of my Source. And genius is only about focusing. Law of Attraction takes care of everything else. Physical humans often want to make enlightenment about finding some process and moving through the process that has been pre-described. But true enlightenment is moving to the rhythm of the internal inspiration that is coming in response to the individual desire. Enlightenment is about allowing my Connection to the Source that is me for the fulfillment of the things that I have individually defined here in my time-space-reality. That’s as good as it gets!”— Abraham (Excerpted from the workshop in Boulder, CO on Saturday, June 7th, 2003)

After my early morning with the sunrise I get ready to leave for my tarot salon from where I do readings for the public. It is with alignment to my desire that I enter this sacred space each day. From here I enjoy many hours daily participating in the manifestation of that desire, so that I may be in service to those who have been guided to seek wisdom, clarity and guidance through tarot.

Every sunrise is a new beginning and an opportunity for me to affirm my chosen path. In celebration of Litha it is my wish today that each of us align with our true desires and thereby effortlessly participate in the manifesting of those, beginning with the rising of the sun.
